Pinoy pop stars in Camp Rock soundtrack

|
|
Julianne and Miguel Escueta
Julianne and Miguel Escueta are in the latest Disney soundtrack of TV series musical Camp Rock. They provide an acoustic version of the song “This Is Me” in the Camp Rock original soundtrack (OST).
Julianne will be singing Mitchie Torres’s parts, while Miguel Escueta will swing into the final harmonies, belting out Shane Gray’s lines.
This Disney Channel movie, starring the Jonas Brothers, will premiere on September 7 at 7:30 pm.
This follows the recent Disney tradition of having local popsters do cover versions of songs from their TV musicals — just like with Nikki Gil, who recorded songs for the Asian version of the High School Musical and High School Musical 2 soundtracks.
MCA Music Inc. together with Walt Disney Records is proud to present the original soundtrack of Camp Rock, the hottest TV movie that talks about how music brings out the best in everyone without trying hard to be someone else.
The plot thickens with a conflict that contains a lie, a love team, the usual mean girl and the true meaning of friendship and acceptance, all heightened with music that sets the right mood for the perfect scene. Also, be captivated with unforgettable production numbers featuring the biggest teen stars like The Jonas Brothers.

|
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Two Filipino films will open and close the Orizzonti (Horizons) sidebar section of the Venice Film Festival, one of the most prestigious international film festivals and known as the world’s oldest.
Lav Diaz’s “Melancholia” and Francis Xavier E. Pasion’s “Jay” have been invited as official selections in the Venice event, which runs from Aug. 27 to Sept. 6.
Pasion’s participation also marks the first time that a debut work by a filmmaker from the Philippines screens at the festival on the Lido.
“Jay” will screen as the first feature in competition on Friday, Aug. 29, while “Melancholia” will close the competition on Saturday, Sept. 6. Diaz, who is closing the Orizzonti two years in a row, is known for his audacious, marathon films such as “Batang Westside” and “Ebolusyon ng Isang Pamilyang Pilipino.” He got the distinction last year with his entry in the sidebar’s documentary section, “Kagadanan sa banwaan ning mga Engkanto” (“Death in the Land of Encantos”).”
This time, Diaz is in competition in the narrative category. The Venice screening marks “Melancholia’s” world premiere. Diaz won the Orizzonti’s Special Mention prize last year for “Kagadanan sa banwaan ning mga Engkanto,” which runs for nine hours. (inquirer.net)
